Man Seriously Injured in Mountain View Shooting

Suspect Joseph Robinson, 26, was arrested in connection with the shooting and charged with attempted murder

San Diego Police Department homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left one man seriously injured in the Mountain View area Wednesday night.

According to police, shots were fired around 9:15 p.m. in the 3800-block of Franklin Avenue. When officers arrived to investigate the reported disturbance, they discovered a man in his 30s unconscious, suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds to his body.

Witnesses told police the victim had gotten into an altercation with another man and that man was still believed to be in the area.

Shortly thereafter, officers found a man with minor injuries in the area and detained him for his possible role in the shooting. A handgun believed to have been used in the shooting was also found in the area.

The gunshot victim was taken to a local hospital with very serious injuries. Given the victim’s condition, police are treating the incident as a potential homicide investigation, the SDPD said. The victim’s name was not released.

Meanwhile, the man detained on scene in connection with the shooting was identified by police as Joseph Robinson, 26. After being questioned by investigators, he was arrested and booked into San Diego Central Jail on an attempted murder charge.
