Motorcyclist Hit and Killed in El Cajon Identified

A motorcyclist killed in an El Cajon collision with a car has been identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's office.

The crash happened just before 8 p.m. in the 1100 block of Avocado Avenue when a car turned left and collided head-on with a motorcyclist, a witness told police.

The motorcyclist, identified as 50-year-old Richard Michael Engler, of Spring Valley, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and was cooperative with police. The driver was not injured and has not been charged as of yet.

Alcohol, drugs or speed do not appear to be a factor, police said.

El Cajon police and Fire Department paramedics initially responded.

The investigation is ongoing.
