Caught on Camera, But Still Not Caught

Months of Burglaries and Still No Arrest

"Oh, furious, furious," says Sandra Moffit Adams.

Her Vista office was broken into early Friday morning, and her laptop and other personal information stolen.

"Two doors down, they were hit.  Across the way, they were hit.  I think there were six that night," said Moffit Adams.

She's just one of dozens of victims over the past several months at a business park in the 2300 block of La Mirada Court in Vista.  In all, business owners claim there have been at least 40 burglaries, most with the same method.  The suspect breaks ground level windows, and grabs electronics, specifically, computers and televisions.

Rudy Candito's deli, Apple Spice Junction, has been hit twice.  After the first time, he installed cameras outside.  The cameras recorded the suspect and his truck returning for another burglary.  He says the suspect climbed up on the roof of the deli to disable the cameras, but not before being caught on video.  Candito describes the suspect as a hispanic male, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, and driving a white truck with some sort of metal rod or pole, also called a boom, extending from the truck.  The deli owner gave the video to sheriff's investigators, but the burglaries have continued.

"Oh, it's very frustrating," said Candito, "Especially when you're talking about 40 to 50 hits along here for the past six months, and they can't seem to catch the guy."

Investigators are asking anyone with any information to please call the sheriff's department.
