A former employee of the Midway museum charged with embezzlement pleaded not guilty Friday.

Monay spent three years with the Midway Museum, employed as an Accounting Manager, according to a friend. Police said Monay used her position to embezzle a large amount of money from the museum.

Officers arrested Monay at her current job in Eastlake and taken to Las Colinas Detention Facility.

A judge raised 35-year-old Veronica Monay’s bail Friday up to $100,000 from $45,000. That's the same amount of money she's accused of stealing from the Museum, police said.

Monay said she left her job at the Midway Museum in March for what she describes as a better job that's closer to her Eastlake home and her 10-year-old daughter. She also said she handled payrolls and ticket sales, but at least two other workers also had access to those accounts.

"I don't want to point fingers at anybody but I know I didn't do it," she said.

Monay’s readiness hearing is scheduled for July 21.
