An El Cajon mother accused of shooting and killing her son in their home pleaded not guilty on Monday.
“With premeditation and deliberation and also, further, she’s also alleged to have committed the killing with a firearm -- a .357 magnum revolver,” Deputy District Attorney Samantha Begovich.
Ring was arrested Friday as soon as she was released from a health care facility.
The 66-year-old called 911 after the shooting and said she had shot her son, deputies said.
Detectives say the only other person home at the time of the shooting was Ring's husband who is an Alzheimer’s patient and isn't able to provide any useful information.
If convicted, Ring could face 50 years to life in prison. She is being held without bail.
