San Diego police are hot on the trail of a suspected bank robber in Mission Valley.

Police said a man robbed a Wells Fargo Bank in the Friars Mission Center Shopping Center, on Tuesday afternoon, just after 4:00 p.m.

The alleged robber apparently ran from the bank and holed up in a parking garage on Frazee Rd. about a block from the bank, police said.

Police have closed off the five-story parking garage, while canine officers search each car in the structure for the suspect. Officers described the man as a white male in his 30's.

The parking structure holds several hundred cars, and nearly 100 people are eagerly awaiting the all-clear sign, so they can get to their cars.

Police have not said when the structure will be re-opened.
