Derrick Post was reported missing Thursday from his San Marcos home.  Post, whose mental capacity is that of a child of between 7 and 10, was last seen walking on Lighthouse Drive Thursday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.  He got off the bus from his special education program at San Marcos High School around 3 p.m., and instead of crossing the street to his mother, he headed for a trail into the nearby canyons where he's become quite a hiker and adventurer.

At approximately 4:45 p.m. Friday, an Astria crew located Post in a deep canyon near Discovery Lake.

A large force of Sheriff's Search & Rescue volunteers gathered at School House Way and High Bluff Ave Friday with canine units, getting help from ASTREA choppers, San Marcos Fire personnel and parks workers.

Post was described as friendly but someone who scares easily and tends to hide.  He is 4'8" and 100 lbs, with short brown hair, brown eyes and partial facial hair on his chin. He was last seen wearing a maroon long sleeved shirt, khaki pants and black tennis shoes.
