Missing Boy Search Begins Over Ocean

He went missing in the surf near Imperial Beach

A frantic search began Wednesday afternoon for a boy who went missing in the surf near Imperial Beach.

Imperial Beach lifeguards reported the boy, estimated to be age 16, missing to the Joint Harbor Operations Center about 2:30 p.m.

He was last seen wearing a red shirt and black jeans.

Coast Guard Section has launched a 33-foot rescue boat, a 41-foot rescue boat from Station San Diego, and a MH-60 helicopter to help anchor the search.

Imperial Beach lifeguards are also assisting, and a San Diego police helicopter is over the ocean.
