Two Men Attempt to Kidnap Woman Walking Along Gillespie Drive

A woman narrowly escaped a kidnapping attempt on a sidewalk in Spring Valley Saturday.

According to officials the woman was walking near the 900-block of Gillespie Drive. The attack happened in broad daylight around 5:15 pm when a vehicle pulled up alongside her and stopped.

Two men got out of the car and attempted to force the woman into their vehicle. She fought against the men and escaped after they grabbed her purse. The suspects then drove away.

John Wilber, who lives in the neighborhood, says he’s surprised by the brazenness of the suspects. “It’s a fairly quiet neighborhood when it comes to things like that...the severity of the crime…that’s what’s surprising,” Wilber told NBC7. “I walk my dog three times a day. We’ve never had any problems…It’s a good neighborhood.”

One suspect is described as a dark-skinned man, approximately 20-25 years old, 5’8” and 150 pounds with a shaved head. There is no description of the other suspect.

The vehicle is described as a white sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Impala, with black windows.

The investigation is ongoing.
