Memorial Held for Active-Duty CHP Officer

Local California Highway Patrol officers remembered one of their own on Saturday during a heartfelt memorial honoring a fellow active-duty officer who died of cancer earlier this month.
CHP officer Suerita Salas-Sides, 34, worked out of Oceanside and passed away following a battle with cancer. She was a 10-year CHP veteran and well-respected among her peers.
Saturday’s service for Salas-Sides was held at the Army and Navy Academy Chapel in Carlsbad.
Many CHP officers in attendance wore leis to honor their colleague’s Guamanian heritage.
