The city of San Diego and the U.S. Marine Corps are teaming up to make San Diego a "smarter" city.
The Mayor and a Marine Corps General just signed an agreement to collaborate on things like drones, smart street lights, renewable energy and the city's 'Get It Done' mobile app.
Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Marine Corps General Vincent Coglianese signed a memorandum of understanding.
"We're proud of supporting the community because we are the community," added General Coglianese. "We're apart of San Diego."
The MOU calls for the City of San Diego and the Marine Corps Installations Command to meet regularly to discuss "Smart City" issues.

The two will partner in a special drone program by U.S. Department of Transportation: they plan to develop action plans for security, mobility and public works.
The city and marines hope the technologies will support city operations, customer service, and public safety, especially in times of emergency.
"During times of disaster the marines are very important in supporting the community," said General Coglianese. "We do high-water rescues, saving people, we set up shelters on bases.
San Diego was named one of the world's smartest in 2015 by National Geographic.
