A man in a wheelchair who was struck and killed Saturday at a busy intersection in San Diego has been identified.
Officials said on Monday that San Diego resident Duane Glaser, 51, was a living in a local convalescent hospital at the time of his death.
San Diego police said the driver of the van was turning from West Point Loma Boulevard onto Midway Drive around 9 p.m. As the van made the turn, the man using the wheelchair entered the intersection in front of the van. The van struck Glaser, killing him.
The driver stopped the van and called 911.
Police shut down traffic in the area for several hours while they investigated the death.
