Man Used Scissors to Rob Store

There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest

Surveillance video may help identify the suspect who used scissors to rob a convenience store robbery.

A clerk reported the robbery around 1:45 a.m. Monday at the AM/PM store located at 4925 Spring Street in the city of La Mesa.

The robbery suspect grabbed the store clerk and demanded β€œthe box.”

While the suspect threatened the clerk with a gun, he actually had a pair of scissors the clerk told NBC 7 San Diego.

Clerk Daniel Sanderson thought the suspect was someone he knew at first and didn’t take him seriously.

β€œI thought it was a joke,” Sanderson told NBC 7 San Diego.

La Mesa police officers found the cash box nearby left open with some money spilled out around it. Officers said they also recovered the scissors used in the crime.

The suspect was described as a man, about 5’ 5” to 5’ 7” with a black button-up shirt and light colored pants. The man’s face was partially covered by a make-shift mask.

No one was injured. There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
