Skye's Wild Ride in Stolen Plane

An Oceanside man is under arrest, accused of stealing a plane and taking it on a joyride just outside LAX's airspace in the middle of the night.

Los Angeles police arrested 23-year-old Skye Turner Friday afternoon on suspicion of flying a small stolen plane that made an unauthorized landing at Los Angeles International Airport.

Turner stole the Cirrus SR22 from Montgomery Field in Kearny Mesa, according to LAPD spokesperson Cleon Joseph. Turner was booked on $20,000 bail.

Joseph says he doesn't know whether Turner has retained an attorney. A call to a Skye Turner of Oceanside wasn't immediately returned.

An employee at a flight school based in Montgomery Field says the plane was reported missing Thursday night. He says the plane, which belonged to a client of the school, was parked behind a fence on airport property.

FBI spokesperson Laura Eimiller says airport police contacted the agency after the pre-dawn landing.
