Man Struck by Car Downtown

A 70 year-old man is in critical condition after a vehicle struck him Downtown Sunday morning.

The San Diego Police Department's traffic unit is investigating the collision on West Grape Street and Columbia.

Police said the driver was driving southbound on Columbia Street at about 11 a.m. when he cut off a vehicle to his left to turn on a green light.

The driver struck the pedestrian, who was lawfully crossing the street.

Police said no alcohol was involved, but the driver will be cited for reckless driving.
