Man Shot, Killed in Mt. Hope

Second fatal shooting in the area in two weeks

A man was shot to death Tuesday morning in Mt. Hope.

Officers responded to the sound of shots fired in the 4100 block of F. St. at about 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Medics were requested for the 52-year-old victim, who was then pronounced dead on the scene.

The wife of the victim says his first name is Waddell, and neighbors identified him as Waddell Littleton.

Homicide detectives are now investigating the shooting, and the police department provided traffic control on the street near where the man was shot.

The wife of the man shot said he just returned from work when the shooting occurred.

Police say he was talking to someone or was possibly called over to talk to someone in a car when he was shot. The car, a white Ford Expedition, left the scene and crashed at Palm Ave. and the 805.

Officers arrested a man soon after the incident who matched the shooter description, but police would not confirm if this was the suspect wanted for the shooting.

The motive behind the killing is still being investigated.

Less than two weeks ago, a 14-year-old boy was shot and killed less than a mile away from Tuesday's shooting. Police still do not have any suspects for the killing of Richie Carrillo.

Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to call the Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
