A father of two shot dead inside a home in Alpine earlier this week was identified by investigators Friday as new details emerged in the homicide case.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner (ME) said the victim of the shooting was Alpine resident Lorenzo Alejandro Rodriguez, 42. The ME determined Rodriguez was a victim of homicide; he suffered a gunshot wound to his torso.
On Tuesday just after 6:30 p.m., homicide detectives with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department (SDSO) found Rodriguez's body inside a home on Viejas Grade in Alpine, on the Viejas reservation. There, deputies arrested Angela Meza, 47, in connection with the killing of Rodriguez.
No further details about the suspect or victim have been released by investigators.
NBC 7 spoke to the victim's girlfriend who said Rodriguez and Meza were not close friends, and she doesn't know what could've possibly provoked the deadly shooting.
Rodriguez's roommate told NBC 7 he leaves behind two sons.
"He had a big heart and would help anyone that needed it," the roommate said.

Meza appeared in court on Friday and pleaded not guilty to one count of murder. She's being held in jail on a bail of $4 million. She's due back in court on May 25.
