A San Diego Fire Department helicopter crew and paramedics rescued an adult man who fell from his bike in Mission Trails Regional Park, suffering a painful shoulder injury at just past 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Authorities said the man was found on a hiking trail too far from the trailhead to carry him out with a stretcher. Fire crews entered the park from the east end of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.

A helicopter assisted in the rescue, taking the man to De Portola Elementary School where the crews met an ambulance.

The bicyclist  was then transported to Mercy hospital with non-critical injuries. He reported being in a lot of pain, a fire dispatch said.
