Man Pinned at Gas Station

In just a matter of seconds, a routine trip to the gas station turned into an incredible dangerous situation when a driver ran into two men, injuring one and pinning another against a building.

A woman pumping gas at the Chevron gas station on Carmel Mountain Road in Rancho Penasquitos Sunday got into her car and made a terrible mistake.

"She just had the look of panic on her face as she hit what she thought was the brake pedal and it turned out to be the gas pedal," said Jim Reschk with the San Diego police.

The woman ran over a man riding this motorcycle and then headed straight for a man near the gas station air pump police said.

"He put up his hands and said 'Stop! Stop!' but she panicked and hit the gas," said Reschk.

"He was slammed," said witness Karen Moriel. "He just flew against the wall. The car pinned him."

Reschk said the man was pinned between the car and the building for a while until they could get emergency crews there.

The second victim was taken to the hospital. Investigators say it appeared his bones were crushed in several places.  The first victim was also taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Officers do not believe the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  The woman behind the wheel told news reporters at the scene of the accident that she was extremely sorry for what happened.
