A suspect who stole a car from a dealership in Kearny Mesa led police on a 30-minute chase on State Route 52 and Interstate 15 late Sunday morning.
The man was at the Infinity Kearny Mesa dealership in the 4600 block of Convoy for about an hour before he got into a 2019 QX50 Infiniti SUV that was being detailed and drove off around 11:30 a.m.
Employees said while the man was at the dealership he wasn’t making any sense.
California Highway Patrol officers followed the suspect and a helicopter kept an eye overhead.
Officers attempted to pull over the suspect, but he continued onto eastbound SR-52 then onto northbound I-15. He was finally taken into custody at Miramar Road just after noon.
It is unclear how the suspect was taken into custody.
The theft is being investigated as a stolen vehicle and not a carjacking.
