A 91 year-old widowed La Jolla man died after being knocked to the ground by his own car.
Emmett Bogart was leaning into is car though an open door around 6:30 on Saturday night at his home on Bedel Court when somehow he mistakenly took the car out of park and put it into gear, according to police. The engine was not running, but the car began to roll backwards and the open door knocked him to the ground.
He was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital with serious hip injuries and later died from the trauma.
