Man Killed in Chula Vista Shooting: Cops

The victim was shot Sunday morning, according to police

A suspect is in custody following a deadly shooting that happened in Chula Vista Sunday morning.

According to police, they received reports of a shooting around 6:42 a.m. at a residence on the 1500 block of San Pedro Point Court.

When officers arrived, they said a man flagged them down and directed them toward the home where the shooting occurred.

Inside, in an upstairs bedroom, officers said they found a 23-year-old black adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities performed CPR, but they said the shooting victim died at the scene.

The victim's name has not been released.

Police are investigating this as a homicide.

At least two people were in the house at the time of the shooting, police said.

The suspect involved in the shooting -- 26-year-old Dwayne Ramsay -- was arrested Sunday. Detectives said it appears the suspect and victim have known each other for years, however the motive behind the killing is still unknown.

Ramsay is due in court Thursday on two other unrelated charges. He's scheduled to appear in court for this first degree murder charge on June 22.
