Why did a North County city put its top cop on administrative leave? There are more questions than answers behind the decision about Carlsbad Police Chief Tom Zoll.

A man, believed to have been dead for several days, was found inside a Carlsbad apartment complex when an acquaintance showed up to borrow the man’s car.

Carlsbad police are looking for the man who showed up at the apartment on Oak Avenue after noon Tuesday.

Complex employees told police that the man told them there was a dead man inside the apartment and that he needed to borrow his car, according to our media partners the North County Times.

Officers said the person who called them then took off in the dead man’s car.

Even though they do not consider the man a suspect, they do want to find him to ask him some questions.

Officers don't know how the man died, but late Tuesday they said that they do not believe it is a crime.
