Man Dies in Police Custody

A 36-year-old man died Thursday while in police custody.

The man was arrested around 7: 40 p.m. Wednesday after police say they received a call of a disturbance in the 4900 block of Longford Street in North Clairemont.

The suspect was accused of looking into windows and trying to burglarize an apartment.

After he was arrested, he complained of pain in the legs and was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

When the man was taken to police headquarters, he complained of leg pain again and difficulty breathing according to a police department news release.

Paramedics were called and the man died while being treated in the sally port.

Officers say no force was used on the man while being arrested or booked.
