A shooting at a house party in Mountain View left one man dead and sent a woman to the hospital early Sunday morning, according to San Diego police.

Police said they began receiving multiple calls reporting a shooting at a house in the 600 block of Jewell Drive just after 1 a.m.

Arriving officers and paramedics found a 63-year-old man who was suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Officer David Stafford of SDPD. The man died at the scene, Stafford said.

Officers also found a 51-year-old woman who had been shot in her lower extremities. Officials transported the woman to an area hospital where she was due to go into surgery.

At this time, authorities were unable to provide a description of the suspect.

An investigation into the shooting was ongoing. Stafford said witnesses were still being interviewed and evidence at the scene was being processed.

The identities of the shooting victims were withheld pending notification of their family members.
