Man Arrested in Alleged Teen Girl Assault

A man was arrested Saturday night after sexually assaulting a teenage girl at knifepoint in El Cerrito before she escaped, San Diego police said.

The 17-year-old victim was walking in the 6000 block of University Avenue before 8:30 p.m. when the suspect, who was in his mid-20s, approached her while displaying a knife in a threatening manner, police said.

The suspect then allegedly grabbed the victim’s breasts and tried to pull her into nearby bushes.

The victim sustained several cuts to her fingers when she grabbed the knife and pushed it from her body before running away, police said.

Police found the suspect shortly after he fled eastbound from the scene. He was booked for sexual battery and assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
