Man, 60, Stabbed in Neck in Valley Center; Suspect in Custody

A 60-year-old man was stabbed in the neck Saturday afternoon at a convenient store in Valley Center, deputies said.

The man was stabbed around 4:25 p.m. near the Rincon Reservation Store on the 34300 block of Valley Center Road, San Diego sheriff's Sgt. Michael Tingley said. 

Once deputies arrived, they were given the suspect's description and deputies were able to locate the suspect, 27-year-old Johnny Esparza, nearby and take him into custody.

The victim was transported to a local hospital in serious to critical condition, Tingley said.
