A Long Beach family of three, and a family friend, were killed in a solo vehicle crash in Ventura County Saturday morning, said authorities.

“About 3:25 a.m., a traffic collision occurred, it appears to be a solo vehicle,” said Sgt. Bruce Clark, Ventura County Highway Patrol.  “A Dodge Ram pickup towing a small aluminum boat… veered off to the right and struck a tree,” said Clark.

The accident happened on the Ventura (101) Freeway near La Conchita.

Three people died at the scene, said authorities. Ventura County coroner officials identified them as 53-year-old Phet Chansy, 40-year-old Holly Hamm, and their 11-year-old son Eric Chansy. The family friend, 45-year-old Monica Sang, died at Ventura County Medical Center.  The only survivor was the couple’s 13-year-old son.

Phet Chansy may have suffered a heart attack, which caused him to lose control of the pickup truck, said Ventura County coroner officials.
