Local 'Hood Declared One of the Safest

A website has proclaimed Del Mar Heights, the safest neighborhood in San Diego County. Neighborhoodscout.com uses a database of statistics to breakdown cities based on a potential home buyer's preference, like good public schools, or crime rates, according to their website.

The website says Del Mar Heights is safer than 80 percent of US neighborhoods. The community ranks 72 among 7,685 big city neighborhoods across the US. It says the crime rate in Del Mar Heights is 5.41 per 1000. The site also declares that your chance of becoming a victim in Del Mar Heights is 1 in 185.

The site's management team includes Barry Glick, co-founder and the former CEO of MapQuest.com.
