Local Lotto Ticket Nets $170,827 Prize

The ticket matched five out of six numbers in the latest Mega Millions drawing

A California Lottery ticket sold in San Diego earned one lucky winner a nice chunk of change.

The ticket matched five of the six numbers in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing – 40, 21, 51, 16 and 17 – missing only the Mega number, 20.

Still, that was enough for the lucky lotto ticket to be worth $170,827, the California Lottery office announced.

The winning ticket was purchased at Escape Snack Bar located at 3360 32nd Street Naval Base in San Diego. No word on the winner behind the ticket just yet.

On Aug. 3, another winning lottery ticket sold in Lemon Grove was worth a whopping $587,468.

Since no one won the big Mega Millions jackpot in Friday's drawing, that payout is now up to an estimated $15 million, the California Lottery office said.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot to date was the $656 million up for grabs on Mar. 30, which offered the cash option of $474 million. Three winning jackpot tickets were sold in that memorable drawing, splitting the record jackpot.

In that drawing, two locals held tickets with five of six winning numbers each worth an estimated $277,000.
