Facebook's New Update Brings Some Snapchat-Like Features

Facebook's New Update Brings Some Snapchat-Like Features

Facebook is adding more Snapchat-like features to its app. The company says it wants to let your camera "do the talking" as more people are posting photos and videos instead of blocks of text. Facebook is rolling out an app update starting Tuesday. With it, you can tap a new camera icon on the top left corner. That opens up the phone's camera to do a photo or video post. You could have posted photos from the app before, but it took an extra tap. Once you open the camera, you'll find Facebook's other new Snapchat-like features, including filters that can be added to images.

Waze Gets Into the Order-Ahead Business With Dunkin' Donuts

Waze Gets Into the Order-Ahead Business With Dunkin' Donuts

Waze's traffic navigation app already shows ads prodding drivers to swing by fast-food joints like Dunkin' Donuts and Taco Bell. Now it's adding a new item to its menu — the ability to place orders at some shops. On Tuesday, the Google-owned app will start letting drivers purchase coffee and other items from Dunkin' Donuts for pickup along their way. It's the first time that Waze has offered this kind of "order ahead" option, but unlikely to be the last. If all goes well with the Dunkin' Donuts test, Waze plans to team up with other merchants so its millions of users can order pizza, reserve parking spaces, fill prescriptions and even buy groceries without having to open another app on their phones.

Family of US Man Killed in London Attack Thanks Well-Wishers

Family of US Man Killed in London Attack Thanks Well-Wishers

The family of an American slain in last week's attack in London expressed gratitude Monday for the kindness of strangers as they insisted some good would come from the tragedy. Kurt W. Cochran from Utah was on the last day of a European trip celebrating his 25th wedding anniversary when he was killed when an attacker mowed down pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before stabbing a police officer in a Parliament courtyard. Cochran's wife, Melissa, suffered a broken leg and rib and a cut head, but is steadily improving. "So many people have been so kind, and we are deeply touched by their goodness and generosity," said Melissa Cochran's brother, Clint Payne. "Your notes, prayers, donations and love have helped us so much."
