CALFIRE assists with 20-acre Ridge Fire

CALFIRE has joined the U.S. Forest Service to help put out a growing fire in Campo, near the U.S. and Mexico border.

The 20-acre fire was the result of a lightning storm on Buckman Springs Rd. that began at about 2:30 Sunday afternoon.

As of 6:30 Monday morning, the fire was mostly inaccessible. Airtankers and helicopters are fighting the fire from above. According the the U.S. Forest service, the fire is 35 percent contained.

The fire is located south of Interstate 8, northeast of the community of Lake Morena. No structures are threatened so far.
