A water line break created a sinkhole near Lakeside early Tuesday.

Water began flooding the eastbound lane of Ridge Hill Road near Lake Jennings Park Road around 5:30 a.m. The location is just east of Interstate 8 near Olde Highway 80.

CHP officers called Helix Water Department whose crews were already busy with a water main break in La Mesa.

Workers at the scene told NBC 7 San Diego the area is serviced by Padre Dam Water District.

The California Highway Patrol put up cones to alert drivers to the damaged section of road.
