Lakers Fire Head Coach: Report

Lakers head coach Mike Brown has been fired this morning, according to a report by ESPN.

The Lakers are 1-4 in the regular season and lost every preseason game. Many believed Brown’s job was in jeopardy, but Kobe Bryant recently expressed confidence in his coach.

The team added All-Stars Dwight Howard and Steve Nash this summer to a solid core of Kobe, Pau Gasol and Metta World Peace. The Lakers also have the league’s largest payroll at more than $100 million.

So far, the superteam has struggled with Brown’s new Princeton-style offense and the Lakers defense has been hurt by injuries to Bryant and Nash.

Assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff or Chuck Person could take over the team on an interim basis.
