La Mesa residents may notice smoke wafting from the ground Thursday and Friday -- it's just a test.
The city is conducting smoke testing of the sewer pipes in two parts of the city. One is near Jackson Dr. and Parkway Dr. and the other is near Severin Dr. and Fuerte Dr.
The testing is a way to detect defects in the pipes. Crews may be inspecting the manholes in the area.
Crews may be seen inspecting yards and other areas where smoke is seen.
Residents were warned of the test, which was scheduled to begin Thursday.
