Noontime shoppers had to deal with a bit of unpleasentness in the tony neighborhood of La Jolla on Monday.
A truck that had just collected cooking grease from a restaurant in the 6700 block of La Jolla Boulevard was spotted spilling grease around 12 p.m. near the intersection of Girard Avenue and Pearl Streets, according to officials with the San Diego Fire Department. Police and fire trucks were called out to the scene.
At least one car spun out because of the mess. It's not clear if anybody was hurt.
Police closed off a section of the street while they cleaned up the spill. A hazardous materials team was also sent out to assess the cleanup.
