A downed light pole caused a traffic jam in La Jolla Saturday morning, San Diego Police Department officials confirmed.

Officials said a car struck a light pole, knocking it down at  around 9:45 a.m. near the Genessee Avenue off-ramp at southbound Interstate 5.

One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Just after 10 a.m., officials said the northbound and southbound lanes of Genessee Avenue had been temporarily closed down as officials worked on the light pole situation.

Several CHP units had been called to the scene to assist with traffic control.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
