A Lakeside man convicted of shooting his real estate agent twice in the head over a condominium deal will spend 40 years to life in state prison.

Michael Ray Jennison, 38, was sentenced Thursday in El Cajon.  He was convicted Sept. 9 of second-degree murder in the death James Magot, 64.  Magot was found dead inside Jennison's condo on Winter Gardens Boulevard in Lakeside on Feb. 1, 2007.

Judge Allan Preckel denied the defendant's motion for a new trial before announcing the sentence.

The victim's widow and son delivered emotional statements. Janet Magot said her husband was a Vietnam veteran who was active in his community and church.
