Border Patrol K9 Units Sniff Out More Than $650,000 Worth of Drugs Hidden in Chasis of Two Cars

Border Patrol agents seized close to 100 pounds of cocaine and methamphetamine hidden inside the body panels of two cars on Sunday.

The first seizure happened at about 9:30 a.m. when a white Nissan Versa approached a United States Customs and Border Protection checkpoint on Interstate 8 near Pine Valley.

The vehicle was referred for a secondary inspection where K9 units alerted CBP agents to the rear of the car. After further inspection, agents discovered 15 wrapped bundles of cocaine stuffed in the car’s rear-quarter panel.

The 15 bundles totaled 38.03 pounds, carrying an estimated $456,360 street value.

The driver, a 24-year-old male, and a 21-year-old female passenger were arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Hours later at the same checkpoint, a white Nissan Altima approached and was sent for secondary inspection. K9 units alerted CBP agents to the inside of the car where they found tape-wrapped bundles of crystal methamphetamine hidden behind the panels of the rear doors.

In total, agents discovered 40 bundles of meth weighing a total of 49.38 pounds. Agents estimate the meth’s street value at $197,520.

CBP agents arrested the driver, a 28-year-old female, and a 29-year-old female passenger and turned them over to the DEA.

Both vehicles were seized by the CBP.
