Border Patrol agents seized close to 100 pounds of cocaine and methamphetamine hidden inside the body panels of two cars on Sunday.
The first seizure happened at about 9:30 a.m. when a white Nissan Versa approached a United States Customs and Border Protection checkpoint on Interstate 8 near Pine Valley.
The vehicle was referred for a secondary inspection where K9 units alerted CBP agents to the rear of the car. After further inspection, agents discovered 15 wrapped bundles of cocaine stuffed in the carβs rear-quarter panel.
The 15 bundles totaled 38.03 pounds, carrying an estimated $456,360 street value.
The driver, a 24-year-old male, and a 21-year-old female passenger were arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Hours later at the same checkpoint, a white Nissan Altima approached and was sent for secondary inspection. K9 units alerted CBP agents to the inside of the car where they found tape-wrapped bundles of crystal methamphetamine hidden behind the panels of the rear doors.

In total, agents discovered 40 bundles of meth weighing a total of 49.38 pounds. Agents estimate the methβs street value at $197,520.
CBP agents arrested the driver, a 28-year-old female, and a 29-year-old female passenger and turned them over to the DEA.
Both vehicles were seized by the CBP.
