A parolee took his parents’ truck out for a joy ride Tuesday morning and crashed it into a fire hydrant in Chula Vista, creating a huge mess.
When the owners of the truck discovered it missing, they called police and reported it stolen.
Officers found the truck in the 300 block of Palm Avenue just before 2:00 a.m. with a geyser of water shooting into the air.
The 22-year old driver and his three passengers took off. The driver's mother said she got a call from her son saying he had crashed the vehicle and that he's now on the run.
It took water crews 45 minutes to turn off the gushing water.
