Jerry Brown Plans a Small Inauguration Party

Gov.-elect Jerry Brown is set to officially inherit California's problems on Jan. 3. But he can't do that without a party.

The former mayor of Oakland plans to host a party for his close friends and supporters at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, followed by a reception at the California State Railroad Museum.

Brown reportedly wants to keep the cost of the party to under $100,000, which he hopes to raise through private funding. Still Brown's press secretary said the event will be a no-frills affair, with some seats being reserved for the general public.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held in the same auditorium where Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger took office and where the hollowed sounds of some of rock and rolls finest have played.
