Officials called to a car fire east of Jamul say they discovered a body in the trunk of the vehicle.

“Because of the suspicious nature of the event that it was a fully engulfed vehicle and the charred remains of a human inside the vehicle, it does not appear to be the result of a vehicle accident," Capt. Duncan Fraser said.

Investigators say it appears the homicide has no connection to the nearby home.
