The FBI arrested a county jail counselor late on Tuesday in connection to a child pornography charge.
Jeffery Alan Lee, 44, was taken into custody at about 10:30 p.m. at the jail, according to investigators with the FBI.
A search of 11 computers at Lee's Oceanside home earlier on Tuesday uncovered about 1,500 videos and tens of thousands of photographs that appear to be child pornography, according to agents. During the search, agents also discovered that Lee at one time had custody of a 9-year-old boy in foster care for more than a year.
Lee faces a charge of distribution of child pornography. According to a complaint filed by prosecutors on Wednesday, Lee distributed child pornography to undercover FBI agents on May 21 and June 7 via a file-sharing program.
Lee, who is currently being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown San Diego, was in court in connection with the case on Wednesday.
