The Giant Dipper Roller Coaster at Belmont Park in Mission Beach runs 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday in January and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays. For $6, you get to enjoy a thrilling ride on an old wooden coaster and on a clear day, get a great view of the ocean from up top.

Belmont Park opened its newest attraction today, “The Octotron”; a rollercoaster that’s only the second of its kind in the world.

Whether you’re a thrill seeking dare devil or a casual rider,The Octotron is going to let you decide how much, or how little, flipping and rotating back and forth, and end over end, you’ll do during the ride.

The exclusive coaster was manufactured by the same designer behind the Unicoatser at Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America, the park said in a release.

Originally slated for an October release, park management said the Octoron was set to be the third of Belmont Park’s debuts in 2010 after the Sky Ropes Adventure rope course, and Control Freak – a spinning car ride, but due to rain and mechanical issues the date was pushed back until now.

This debut brings the park’s ride count up to 20 attractions in total, featuring fan favorites like The Vertical Plunge and the historic Giant Dipper Roller Coaster.
