Authorities have apprehended an inmate who escaped from the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility Saturday evening.

According to officials, 23-year-old minimum security inmate Juan Ledesma walked away from the state prison located at 480 Alta Road just before 5 p.m.

Upon his escape prison authorities said they implemented escape procedures, scouring facility grounds and the surrounding community for the inmate. Ledesma was not immediately found.

After several hours of searching, officials confirmed Ledesma had been apprehended early Sunday morning.

All local law enforcement agencies and the CHP were notified of the escape and assisted in the search for Ledesma.

No information has been released on where and how he was ultimately caught by authorities.

Officials said Ledesma was committed to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for possession of a controlled substance on August 22, 2011.

He was scheduled to be released from prison this September.

No further details were released regarding how Ledesma escaped in the first place.
