2 Injured in I-805 Hit-and-Run Crash in Chollas Creek

Two pedestrians were struck in a hit-and-run along northbound I-805

Two male teens were struck while standing along northbound Interstate 805 in Chollas Creek on Friday afternoon and officials are looking for the suspect vehicle that fled the scene.

One of the victims succumbed to their injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital, officials confirmed.

California Highway Patrol officers were called to northbound I-805 and Home Avenue just before 2 p.m. where two people were injured from the crash.

The two 19-year-old men were transported to UC San Diego and Scripps Mercy hospitals in Hillcrest for treatment.

CHP officials said the victims had pulled their car over for mechanical issues. When they got out of the vehicle to examine things, a gray Nissan Altima with black bumpers clipped one of the individuals, knocking them into each other.

The Nissan then fled. A right-side mirror from the vehicle fell off during the collision and was left behind at the scene of the hit and run.

Witnesses said the teens’ injuries looked serious.

CHP put out an alert looking for a suspect vehicle: a grey Nissan Altima with black bumpers, unknown license plate, with a right mirror missing.
