House Fire Controlled in Santee

The fire began around 7:10 p.m. on Granite House Drive

Heartland Fire Department responded to a fire at a single-family home in Santee Friday evening.

According to authorities, the fire began around 7:10 p.m. on the 8700 block of Granite House Drive and caused heavy flames and smoke to cover the home.

Two additional fire engines were requested at the scene, as well as sheriff's bomb arson, authorities said.

Sheriffs said the fire began in the garage. The family who lives in the house was away at SeaWorld at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Details have not been released about what may have caused the fire at the Santee home.

By 8:30 p.m., authorities confirmed the flames had been fully extinguished.
