Winds created a challenge for fire crews as they tried to knock the house fire down Saturday night.

A fire completely destroyed a home and three cars in the East County Saturday night.

The fire broke out around 7:30 p.m. in the 6200 block of Dehesa Road in Dehesa, police said.

A large house, attached 3-car garage and three vehicles were destroyed.

A witness said they heard what sounded like ammunition going off.

No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported. Fire authorities say strong winds were a factor in trying to get the fire out.

Investigators still do not know what caused the fire.
