Homicide Victim Found on Lakeside Sidewalk ID'd: SDSO

A man found lying on a sidewalk in a Lakeside neighborhood has been identified the San Diego Sheriff’s Department (SDSO) confirmed.

Trammel Joseph Rizzuti, 35, died of upper body trauma in an apparent homicide early Sunday morning.

A newspaper delivery person called 911 when he found Rizzuti lying in the 10000 block of Aquilla Drive around 4:20 a.m.

Lance Benson, 29, of Lakeside, was arrested for Rizzuti’s murder the same day and booked into San Diego Central Jail. 

"This is shocking," neighbor Sharon Cerecedes said. "I was asleep, my husband woke me up and said something horrible is going on."

The suspect's roommate, Derek Downey, said he didn't know what to make of it.

"I don't know what to think, living with somebody in the same household, and they do this," he said. "It just makes you think about people's characters."

"It's very scary, it's something that I'm not going to be walking even my dog down that street anymore," Cerecedes said. "I used to walk down that way all the time, but I won't anymore."

Rizzuti succumbed to his injuries at the scene according to the Sheriff’s Department. He lived in El Cajon.
