A woman was sexually assaulted and robbed of prescription medications after she took out her trash in University Heights Tuesday, police confirmed.
One suspect assaulted the victim while the other stole prescription medicines from her cabinet, said SDPD officers.
Police were called to a home on Texas Street, near Polk Avenue and Howard Avenue just after 10 a.m.
The 34-year-old victim was outside of her home when she was confronted by two people in a robbery, SDPD Officer Bill Hernandez told NBC 7.
Police said a woman knocked on the victim's apartment door, asking for a person who doesn't live there. Twenty minutes later, while the victim was taking out her trash, the woman came back. This time she was accompanied by a man.
The man allegedly sexually assaulted her, while the woman went inside her home and stole her things, including medicine, said police. After the attack, the suspects ran from the scene, SDPD Officer Joshua Hodge said.
Police are searching for the man and woman who worked together to carry out the home invasion, assault and robbery. Officers said the victim does not appear to have known the suspects.

The property manager said they had problems with the previous tenants, who were evicted earlier this year. Neighbors said they used to see a lot of drugs in the area that cleared up after the eviction.
The suspects were described as a white woman in her late 40s, 5 feet, 5 inches tall with light brown hair and a black male in his late 30s, 6 feet tall with a thin build, police said.
The woman has a heavy build and wore her brunette hair in a ponytail, along with a dark, baggy hoodie. The man was wearing a white shirt and tennis shoes. His dreadlocks were also pulled back in a ponytail.
"I've never heard of anyone being assaulted in this neighborhood. Never," said Charles Johnson, a resident who lives nearby. "That worries me."
Emergency personnel took the woman to Scripps Mercy in Hillcrest. Police did not have details on her injuries or her condition.
The nature of the assault was not clear, officers said. They also did not know the type of medicine stolen.
The Sex Crimes Unit is investigating, according to the SDPD.
"It is very uncommon and this particular scenario," said Tu Nguyen, the Acting Lt. for the Sex Crimes Unit. "It's more of an isolated incident only because they came in asking for a very particular individual who does not live there."
